Don Mills Scholarship

HALLI THURLOW is 2011 scholarship recipient.

The Family of Donald & Zola Mills proudly offers the Donald Mills Memorial Golf Scholarship.  This Scholarship was established in 2011 and is awarded to a Senior Golfer from either West Holt or Stuart Public’s Golf Team. Donald & Zola Mills were life long members of the Atkinson-Stuart Country Club from its beginnings out by the airport, to its current location in 1971.  Their donations to the Country Club varied from the planting of trees, to watering them before underground sprinklers, to book keeping and to serving on the Board of Directors.

Don was a regular with his afternoon foursome but would always make time to play with his Son, Daughter, Grandsons or Granddaughters.  He was very proud of “his” golf course and would tell his many stories to anyone who would listen.

The Donald “PA” Mills Memorial Golf Tournament was established in 2008.  Every year the tournament brings together both Family & Friends to play the game of Golf that Don Mills loved so very much.  At the Golf Course he loved so very much.  The funds for this scholarship come from the proceeds of this tournament; the remainder is donated to the country club.  The winner of this scholarship is invited to join the family of Don Mills to play the first three holes of this tournament in July.
